Overview

Join us for a moving performance of Faure's Requiem to support SNAP recipients - it's music for a cause!

Welcome to Faure Requiem! Join us for a special benefit concert at St. Paul's Church in Newburyport on November 9, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Let's come together to support those receiving SNAP benefits and enjoy the beautiful music of Gabriel Fauré's Requiem in D minor, Op. 49. Don't miss this opportunity to make a difference and experience a memorable evening filled with beautiful, soulful melodies.

Fauré wrote the “Requiem”, or “rest”, to be a musical consolation, a deeply human response to the suffering of death and the pain of grief, that paints a picture of the paradise that awaits and merciful peace. His Requiem is about peaceful acceptance and release, and the music is serene, elevating, and comforting. The 'Pie Jesu' (a soprano/treble solo) or the 'In Paradisum’' which closes the work, are the most famous parts of the work.
