Join your farmer peers, the Midwest Vegetable Growers Network (MVEG), with facilitation from FairShare CSA Coalition, for open discussion about issues you're facing this growing season! We'll start off with preset topics, but can always adapt the conversation based on what you need to share & hear each month.
Here are the topics we have planned - subject to change based on what we're hearing from growers & what's going on throughout the season:
April 14:
- Crop Insurance - Share your experiences with crop insurance, & learn about the different options available to diversified vegetable growers, plus their pros & cons.
May 12:
- Immigration on Farms - Know your rights regarding ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement), H-2A workers, & how to support workers as we're seeing more targeting of immigrants from the current administration.
June 9:
- Field & Family Podcast launch - We're excited to share a new podcast mini-series from the MVEG Network's Resilience & Health working group, focused on the intersection of farming & family care.
July 14:
- Climate Resilience - How are you adapting your farm to be more resilient to extreme weather? What do you want to know about what other growers in our region are changing in their practices, alongside our changing climate?
August 11:
- Organic & Other Certifications - If you have questions about getting USDA Organic Certified, transitioning to organic through TOPP, pursuing Real Organic Project certification, or other add-on labels, come chat with us.
Coordination Team:
- Sadie Willis (she/her) - MVEG Network Coordinator, FairShare CSA Coalition, WI
- Beth Knorr (she/her) - Ohio Program Manager, FairShare CSA Coalition, OH
