How do I get a fee waiver?

Please email the class coordinators at FamLawOrientation@kingcounty.gov regarding a fee waiver prior to registration.  Fees are waived per person if your after-tax income is less than 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or you receive TANF or Food Stamps. You must provide proof of your benefits.

What is the cost of the class?

The cost for this class is $20.00 plus Eventbrite fees. The cost can be waived based on your income. Please email the class coordinators at FamLawOrientation@kingcounty.gov for information regarding a fee waiver before registering.

What's the refund policy?

You can request a refund until 1 day prior to the date you selected at registration.

How do I receive my certificate?

We assume people will watch the videos required for their case.  Certificates will be automatically generated within one week after the scheduled class date, and copies will be emailed to participants.  The originals will be filed with the court to be placed in your electronic case file.

How long is the FLO?

Since the FLO is on your own time, it will take as long as you need to review the YouTube videos regarding your case type.

Question 7

Are both parties required to attend the FLO?

Accepted Answer

Any person who does not have an attorney is supposed to attend the FLO for dissolution, legal separation, invalidity cases, and relocation or modification of a parenting plan if not taken prior.

Question 8

Who is required to take the FLO?

Accepted Answer

Only parties without attorneys in dissolution, legal separation and invalidity cases --with or without children -- relocation cases, and parenting plan modifications are required to take the FLO.  If neither party in a case has an attorney, both are required to complete the class separately.

When does registration end for a class?
