Living Classrooms Foundation invites you and your family and friends aboard the 1948 Chesapeake Bay buyboat MILDRED BELLE to learn more about all the aquatic life that can be found in DC’s Potomac and Anacostia Rivers.
Participants can enjoy an exciting and educational afternoon full of catching critters in our 15-foot trawl net, learning to handle and identify fish species, and hearing more about the health of our rivers and waterfronts. You can also try your hand as a mariner by helping to steer and navigate the boat with our fearless captain. Learn some local history and relax while enjoying the sounds and activity on the water.
As this is an educational trip, all fish caught will be handled with best catch-and-release practices as informed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance. Open to guests 9+ only; All passengers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult and wear a lifejacket (provided by the crew) while on board the vessel.
