About this event

Family & Education • Other

In celebration of Logan Circle's newest piece of public art, Dancer, families are invited to meet the artist, Victor Ekpuk, and learn about his creative process. Then, young artists will also be invited to participate and explore their own creativity through hands-on activities.

Book Reading:

Shaw (Watha T. Daniel) Neighborhood Librarian will read Time to Make Art by Jeff Mack

“Making both art history and art making accessible to all, Time to Make Art nourishes creativity, encouraging young readers to see the artist in themselves.”

Art Activity:

Children will be invited to build their own sculptures using cardboard, inspired by the prompt: “Create a piece of art you’d like to see outside your window.”

This event is co-hosted by the Goethe-Institut Washington, Logan Circle Community Organization and The Shaw (Watha T. Daniel) Neighborhood Library

We will provide refreshments and cardboard and various materials for assembling their sculptures, including: markers, stickers, tape, and a MakeDo Invent Kit*

Who can use a MakeDo?

Children aged 4+ can make with the assistance of an adult.
Children aged 7+ can make independently.
Children 3 years or younger are not advised to have unsupervised access to Makedo.

Older siblings, parents, neighbours and friends are all encouraged to join in too!

Please submit requests for ASL services or other accommodations at least five days in advance. Requests can be made at lccaindc@gmail.com
