Familial Weaving Workshop with Noel Magathe

Familial Weaving Workshop with Noel Magathe

By Brookline Arts Center

Overview

Join us for an evening of photo-weaving experiments. Led by artist Noel Maghathe, we will weave together two photographs.

Maghathe's project focuses on exploring family archives to reconnect with old memories and creating new ones by weaving these moments together. This process of weaving different parts of life into one captures the interplay between memory and truth, the longing for home and the past. We will work to bring these two photographs together into a new memory.

Please bring two printed photos on 8 x 11-inch printer paper. This class welcomes all ages. Youth 16 and under should be accompanied by an adult.

Noel Magathe is a Palestinian-American multidisciplinary artist, their practice is deeply rooted in their heritage, searching for home within the body and memory. Through sculpture, performance, and light, they explore themes of identity, cultural memory, and longing.

Maghathe has exhibited and performed internationally at venues including Abrons Arts Center (New York), Art League Houston, Contemporary Arts Center (Cincinnati), MMAG Foundation (Jordan), SPACE HUB (Palestine), Sawtooth ARI (Tasmania), Kino Club (Finland), 21C Museum (Cincinnati), and Mizna + RAWIfest (Minneapolis).
