Coming Thursdays afternoons in the Fall, a 10 week teen program in making comics.

About this event

In this fall teen comics class, students will be developing their comics making skills, flexing their storytelling muscles and trying their hand at new image making techniques.

By the end of the 10 weeks, each student will walk away with multiple comics pages and a reproducible comics zine. They will also have an opportunity to exhibit their work in a Friday night artwork exhibition Friday November 25.

When

This course will meet for 10 classes over 11 weeks, Thursdays from 4-6pm (NOTE: there will be no class Thursday October 27, the final class will be Thursday November 17, 10 classes total).

Where

This is an in person only event in Gainesville, Florida at our new location: 1314 S Main St.

Who

This is for teen students. Ideally aged between 12 and 16. An interest and excitement about comics is recommended. No specific proficiency is required.

Pricing

This course is priced based on need. Please pay what you can. If you can afford to pay a little more, you'll help us make this awesome class accessible to more students in our community. If you can’t pay full pricing, we don’t want you to be unable to access our classes.

The Pay What You Can model isn’t based on provable income, rather you determine what you are able to pay.

COVID Policy

As of February 2022, we encourage all members of our community to be vaccinated. We are continuing to ask people to wear masks during workshops and when they're in the space with 3 or more people. Hand sanitizer and masks are available, as well as increased cleaning (especially after high traffic/special events).

If anyone feels symptoms they are asked to notify us and stay at home until they've received a negative test. We're a small group who are good friends, lets stay safe and protect each other.

This course is subject to cancellation depending on enrollment and COVID safety.
