About this event
New date! October 24th.
Come join us for a fall paddle around First Creek at Joe Wheeler State Park. We'll learn about the Tennessee RiverLine project (https://www.tnriverline.org/), the history of the Muscle Shoals canal, the Wheeler Dam and Joe Wheeler State Park and enjoy an easy paddle - all ages welcome! We do recommend some kayaking experience (aka, you've sat in one and paddled around at least once or twice before) for this adventure. You will need to provide your own boat.
We will meet at the boat launch , which is located in the park on the north side of the Tennessee River. Look for MSNHA signs and people wearing MSNHA and Tennessee RiverLine t-shirts.
University of North Alabama Students, Faculty and Staff can check out kayaks through the UNA Outdoor Adventure Center (https://www.una.edu/recsports/outdoor-adventure-program.html). Make sure to do so ahead of time to make sure you get a boat!
If you'd like to make a donation to the MSNHA when you reserve your spot for the paddle, please do so but you do not have to donate to participate. All funds donated go to support MSNHA programs focused on recreation and education.
Once you register, we will be in touch to get your size for a Tennessee RiverLine t-shirt - free for all participants!
