In 1982, when airbrushing & anorexia were at their peak in the high fashion world of modeling, Kathleen Cecilia Nesbitt embarks on an independent project at Columbia College in Chicago; Ruth Thorne-Thomsen her advisor, endeavoring to reveal inate beauty within a woman's shape, without constraints society places in the minds of men and women of how a woman should "look".
43 years in the making, "Women Embodied" has found a home at Timeless Arts Gallery & Studio in Chicago's vibrant West Lakeview / Roscoe Village Neighborhoods.
Joining Kathleen for this 2-Artist Exhibition, Nicole Van Dyken presents "Empowered", stippling art, digital collage and original canvas paintings, designed to elicit feelings of strength, vigor & enlightenment amongst those fortunate enough to see these eclectic imaginings in person.
In 2013 Nicole made the tough decision to leave a successful HR career to become a stay-at-home mom when her daughter was born. This allowed her to rekindle her passion for art. Empowered is Nikki's first exhibition at Timless Arts Gallery & Studio, brought to life by metal artist & jewelry maker, Rob John Proue, in the Fall of 2023.
