About this event

Travel & Outdoor • Hiking

Enjoy a fun and informative Fall walk in the woods as the colors change with Charlottesville Area Tree Steward David Marrs at the beautiful Ivy Creek Natural Area!

David will begin the walk with a conversation about the area's trees and landscapes, exploring how they reflect both the cultural and natural history of the land. Along the way, he will discuss why certain trees grow where they do and share tips for identifying the most common species. David will also talk about the changes that trees go through during the Fall time period.

This easy to moderate walk will be on established well-maintained trails with only slight inclines and declines. We will be in the open sun for only a short portion of the walk and spend the majority of time on trails in the shaded woods.

Please meet at the Ivy Creek Natural Area kiosk as you go from the parking lot towards the barn. We recommend wearing long pants, sturdy boots, bringing water and insect repellent.

This walk is free, but donations are always appreciated. Thanks!
