About this event

Travel & Outdoor • Other

Kensington Metropark, with its wetlands, woodlands, lakes, and meadows, is an extraordinary birding spot. Join Detroit Bird Alliance leaders Jim Mahon and Esha Biswas as we look for seasonal migrants, admire the year round residents, and search for the elusive Wilson's Snipe. (They have been eluding us for years!)

Jim Mahon' s bird knowledge combined with his unparalleled familiarity with the park and it's residents make this a great exeperience for birders of all ages and expertise. The group will hike one to two miles on the nature trails near the Nature Center. Also, you can participate in a breathtaking experience by having Nuthatches, Chickadees, Downy Woodpeckers and other birds land on your outstetched hand to grab some seeds.

Meet at the Kensington Nature Center.

Note: Entrance to the park requires an entrance fee or an annual metropark pass.
