Exploring the Night Sky!

By Big Oaks Conservation Society

Overview

View winter constellations in the night sky and tour the famous Cincinnati Observatory, the oldest in the U.S. Take home a star viewer too!

Bears, Dogs and a Dragon are just a few of the winter constellations to discover as we explore the night sky at the famous Cincinnati Observatory in Mt. Lookout. We start the evening with a brief presentation on navigating the wonders of space and "star-hopping" through the constellations. A tour of the oldest public observatory in the US would not be complete without showcasing two historic telescopes that are over 150 years old. Weather permitting, we will head outside and use planispheres to guide us in finding the constellations.
Cost: $12 per person which covers the cost of the tour and a planisphere to take home with you.
In respect to the Izaak Walton's Women Sharing the Outdoors (WSO) mission of female encouragement and involvement, this will only be available to female participants. Therefore, we welcome all women, daughters, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and sisters alike, 18 years or older.
