Spend a summer morning learning about the wonders found in Laurel Summit State Park! This all-ages program will include an informative talk about Timber Rattlesnakes and an up-close view of live specimens collected by expert Ken Stairs, who will share facts about their life history, reproductive ecology and habitat needs and concerns. Then, Dave Planinsek of DCNR-Forbes State Forest will lead a walking tour to Spruce Flats Bog to point out features that make this unique mountain-top attraction such a special ecosystem.

A picnic lunch with grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, sides and drinks will be available for all following the morning program.

Participants should meet at the parking area/pavilion at Laurel Summit State Park, located at the top of Linn Run Road, Somerset, PA 15501.

Pre-registration is required. Participant cost is $5.00 per person to help cover the picnic lunch and children ages 10 and under are free.
