 Lisbon | October 2nd, 2025 | University of Lisbon

On October 2nd, the University of Lisbon will host an exclusive, full-day event that brings together pioneering voices from neuroscience, architecture, consumer research, and behavioral technology. Co-organized by iMotions, PLUX Wireless Biosignals, the Portuguese Academy of Neuroarchitecture, and eMOTIONAL Cities, this gathering explores how biosignals and physiological data are reshaping the way we understand human behavior from neuromarketing and UX research to human-centered design and urban innovation.

Understanding human behavior is becoming a cornerstone of innovation across industries, from product development and marketing to architecture, healthcare, education, and digital experience. As technology evolves, we now have access to tools that allow us to go beyond self-reports and assumptions, tapping into real-time physiological data to uncover how users truly feel, think, and react.

Biosignals such as heart rate variability, electrodermal activity, EEG, respiration, and eye tracking are offering new insights into user behavior, attention, emotional response, and cognitive load. These signals are helping researchers and professionals design more intuitive, engaging, and impactful experiences, rooted in measurable human responses.

In a world where environments are increasingly designed with people in mind, understanding how humans respond, emotionally, cognitively, and physiologically to spaces, products, and stimuli has become essential. Emerging technologies now allow us to capture human experience with unprecedented precision, using biosignals to generate objective, real-time data about perception, stress, engagement, and well-being.

As this frontier advances, the convergence between neuroscience, design, architecture and behavioral science is reshaping how we communicate, design and innovate. It is in this context that the University of Lisbon will host an exclusive, full-day event that brings together pioneering voices from across disciplines to explore how biosignals and physiological data are revolutionizing our understanding of human behavior in real-world settings.

Co-organized by iMotions, PLUX Wireless Biosignals, the Portuguese Academy of Neuroarchitecture, and the EU-funded research project eMOTIONAL Cities, this event aims to explore how multimodal physiological data is transforming the way we understand and design for human experience, across sectors and scales.

This immersive experience will combine scientific insight with hands-on experimentation, offering a unique platform for learning, knowledge exchange, and applied innovation.
