Explorers LARPing Class: Rune Stone Crafting & Learn-to-LARP Adventure!

By Dana Susan Beasley and Sam Beasley

Overview

Homeschooling/online schooling kids 9-17 acting workshop, ditch battle, learn basic sword techniques, play an RPG game, and more.

Get ready for an exciting hands-on LARPing adventure designed especially for imaginative kids and teens! In this special December session, students will learn our brand-new stone-based gameplay system and craft their own custom rune stones to use in future Explorers Creativity Club adventures.

Whether your child is an experienced LARPer or brand new to the world of role-play and foam combat, this class will introduce them to core skills, safety rules, imaginative play, and teamwork—all in a fun, encouraging, family-friendly environment.

What We’ll Be Doing

🪨 Create Your Own Rune Stones

Students will design and make their own set of special rune stones, which will become part of our new reward and character progression system in the Explorers Creativity Club. Every stone has meaning, power, and purpose!

👜 Create Your Own “Runekeeper’s Bag” (Customize Your Front Pocket!)

Each student will receive a pre-made Runekeeper’s Bag crafted from a variety of colorful and textured fabrics—students can choose the style they like best. During class, they’ll personalize their bag by sewing on their own front pouch, designed specifically for fast rune-stone access during battles. The main compartment holds extra or spent stones, while the custom pocket keeps active stones within easy reach during our timed encounters. This hands-on project blends creativity, sewing skills, and practical gameplay design, and students will leave with a durable, fantasy-inspired bag they can use all season long.

📘 Unveiling the NEW Player’s Handbook

Be the first to see the updated Explorers Player’s Handbook, with revised rules, lore, and gameplay elements.

⚔️ Learn to LARP: Training Session

Students will learn the foundations of LARPing, including:

  • Safety basics
  • How to participate in role-play
  • How ditch battles work
  • Team communication
  • Foam sword handling

⚔️ Ditch Battling

A favorite activity! Kids will burn energy, practice teamwork, and learn essential combat mechanics in a safe, structured way.

🎭 Acting & Role-Play Games

If time allows, we’ll finish with short acting challenges and character-building games that help students develop confidence, creativity, and storytelling skills.
