About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours
  • ALL AGES
  • Free venue parking

Attendees MUST have a computer that can install and run programs. The following software will be used:

  • Visual Studio Code
  • Python
  • Java
  • Rust
I will install these myself on the day which is why it is important that attendees have install priveleges on their computers.

    OVERVIEW:
On the first day, we will explore the basics of programming with python and discuss in detail some of its applications and the things that python is good and bad at.

On the second day we will explore heavy object oriented programming with Java, a language used widely in industry systems and robotics applications.

On the third day, we will explore Rust, an extremely powerful but difficult systems language focused on safety and performance.

The goal of the course is to give attendees a view of different aspects of programming as generally, courses only ever cover one.

We will be creating various small projects in each language based in the terminal.

Frequently asked questions

What ages are recommended?

This course will cover a lot of theory and programming without much pause or slowing down. For this reason I would recommend 12+ unless your child is already adept at programming and typing.

What do I need to bring?

You need to bring a laptop and charger onto which you can install programs. The install process for Java and Rust is particularly difficult so I will be doing it myself on the day.
