In this event, case studies that exploits the power of Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things for sustainable intelligent transportation system will be presented.

Kok-Lim Alvin Yau (Professor, Sunway University, Malaysia)

Kok-Lim Alvin Yau received the B.Eng. degree (Hons.) in electrical and electronics engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, in 2005, the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the National University of Singapore, in 2007, and the Ph.D. degree in network engineering from the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, in 2010. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Computing and Information Systems, Sunway University. He is also a Researcher, a Lecturer, and a Consultant in applied artificial intelligence, applied deep learning, reinforcement learning, wireless networking, and intelligent transportation systems. He was a recipient of the 2007 Professional Engineer Board of Singapore Gold Medal for being the best graduate of the M.Sc. degree. He serves as the Vice General Co-Chair for ICOIN’18, the Co-Chair for IET ICFCNA’14, and the Co-Chair (Organizing Committee) for IET ICWCA’12. He serves as an Editor for the KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Systems, and an Associate Editor for IEEE Access. He is also the Vice-Chair of IEEE SIG on Big Data with Computational Intelligence.

Sye-Loong Keoh (Associate Professor, University of Glasgow, Singapore)

Sye-Loong Keoh is an Associate Professor in the School of Computing Science, University of Glasgow (UofG, Singapore campus) and the Director of Research Programmes in UofG Singapore. He holds a Ph.D. in computing science from Imperial College London. Prior to joining Glasgow, he was a Senior Scientist at Philips Research Eindhoven, The Netherlands. His areas of expertise include Internet of Things (IoT), urban mobility, cyber security for cyber-physical systems, and policy-based security management for pervasive and distributed systems. He leads the cyber-security research activities in UofG Singapore where he has designed several lightweight authentication protocols and key management schemes for IoT, building management and industrial control systems. More recently, he is researching on new techniques for securing end-to-end communication and ensuring data provenance in IoT environment. While working at Philips Research, he was responsible for standardizing Marlin Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology for content protection, and lightweight security protocols for Philips’s IoT-based lighting systems.

Andreea I. Niculescu (Research Scientist and User Experience Designer, A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Singapore)

Andreea I. Niculescu is research scientist and user experience designer working at A*STAR Institute for Infocomm research (I2R) Singapore. Her work focuses on designing multimodal intelligent interactive systems. Some of her projects are dealing with intelligent transportation systems, in particular with autonomous vehicles and intelligent parking applications. She has a keen interest on smart cities and was part of the Intelligent Transportation System Lab established in I2R in cooperation with Continental AG. Andreea studied Computer Science in Germany at the Ruhr-University Bochum and did her PhD in the Netherlands at the University of Twente. Her thesis was on Conversational Interfaces for task-oriented dialogues with computer systems. She is a passionate advocate of social empowerment, sustainability, and environmental protection through technology adoption.
