Experimental Design and Hypothesis Testing Using R
Overview
Why do we perform experiments? What conclusions would we like to be able to draw from these experiments? Who are we trying to convince? How does the “magic” of statistics help us reach conclusions?
This workshop, held in two sessions, will in part attempt to answer some of these questions. It’s open to anyone interested in learning more about the basics of statistics, experimental design, and the fundamentals of hypothesis testing.
The first session will lay out the foundational concepts, while the last session will concentrate on the practical implementation of some basic hypothesis tests and on performing statistical power analyses in R.
This is an introductory workshop in the Biostats series. No background in statistics, prior experience, or prerequisites are required.
