About the Speaker

Eduardo Martínez Moya is an architect based in Seville, Spain, with over three decades of experience specializing in structural design, foundation systems, and architectural heritage restoration. A graduate of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Sevilla, he holds a specialization in building construction and has been a faculty member at the University of Seville since 1991. There, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in structural analysis, construction pathology, and heritage intervention.

He is also the founder and director of Edartec Consultores, a firm that has led more than two thousand projects since 1996, ranging from new construction to structural rehabilitation of historic sites. His expertise spans structural diagnostics, reinforcement techniques, and conservation of monumental architecture, with work carried out across Spain and internationally in countries such as Portugal, Italy, Morocco, Jordan, and Mexico.

Martínez Moya has contributed to major restoration efforts on monuments from diverse historical periods, including the Royal Chapel of Seville Cathedral, the Roman Theater of Itálica, and the Jesuit Missions of Bolivia. He has also collaborated on international training programs with institutions such as AECID, promoting the preservation of architectural heritage in Latin America.

In addition to his professional practice, he is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars on construction pathologies and heritage conservation. His work reflects a commitment to bridging technical rigor with cultural preservation, making him a respected voice in the field of structural and architectural restoration. Moya has been recognized with the 2024 Hispania Nostra Award in the category of Heritage Conservation as a Factor of Economic and Social Development for his comprehensive research, documentation, and restoration of La Giralda's façades. His meticulous work has expanded the understanding of the tower's physical structure and historical significance.
