About the movie:

A street bathed in soft light. White picket fences, trimmed lawns, rocking chairs on porches. It looks like a quiet American suburb in the 1950s, but the world behind these doors is very different. Welcome to Chagrin Valley, a memory care facility for seniors living with dementia. Here, time is slippery. Residents gather in a town square where the sun never sets. Some ask the same question again and again: Why am I here? Others find comfort in the routine, in a caregiver’s voice, in the rhythm of daily life.

This intimate documentary captures moments of humour, tenderness, and heartbreak — not only from the residents, but also from the overworked, underpaid caregivers who hold the community together.

Against a backdrop of staged small-town charm, Chagrin Valley reveals the quiet dignity of lives fading, and the resilience of those who stay present through it all.
