Join Us for Borderland: The Line Within, and a panel discussion

BORDERLAND | The Line Within not only exposes the profitable business of immigration and its human cost, but weaves together the stories of immigrant heroines and heroes resisting and showing a way forward, intent on building a movement in the shadow of the border industrial complex, recognizing the human rights of all.

Join us for a powerful evening featuring a screening of the critically acclaimed documentary "Borderland: The Line Within," followed by a panel discussion on the current realities faced by immigrants in our country.

The event will take place at Western Connecticut State University, in the Ives Concert Hall inside White Hall, 180 White Street, Danbury CT.

Immigrants are under attack. In recent weeks, this administration has declared war on immigrants and on anyone who dares to stand with them. The escalation of terror we witnessed in Chicago is part of a continuous campaign of fear against immigrants in the United States. In Connecticut, we have also seen a rise in violence and state-sanctioned disappearances. This summer, armed and masked individuals stormed courthouses, invaded neighborhoods, and abducted our immigrant neighbors in broad daylight. Danbury has become the epicenter of this violence, experiencing daily raids and intimidation targeting immigrant families.

This event aims to delve into the history of state-sanctioned terror against immigrants, explore the connection between policing, the courts, and deportations, and discuss the steps we can take to resist and fight against this war on immigrants and the fascist takeover we are witnessing.

History has shown us that only the people can build the power to stand up to authoritarianism and to overthrow fascism. Nobody is coming to save us- we are all we've got. And it is up to us to stand up and fight for a future where all people are free.

This event will benefit Greater Danbury Area Unites for Immigrants - a collective of local immigrant community leaders and allies who are committed to working together to build the power of and to protect Danbury’s immigrant community. What do we do? Host Know Your Rights Workshops, conduct community outreach; alert our community of ICE presence; build networks of support; and directly support families who have been impacted by ICE abductions.

The evening includes a Q&A and an Ofrenda. Don’t miss this chance to witness moving stories from the border — and support the fight for immigrant protections in CT.

Refreshments will be served. Donations of $15 are encouraged, but we don't want cost to be a barrier. Donations are welcome if you are unable to attend!

The event is co-sponsored by WCSU UndocuAlly Task Force, Western Beyond Borders, CT Students for a Dream, CT Civil Liberties Defense, The Muslim Justice Center, Ridgefield Resistance, Act Local NWCT, CT DSA, REBS, and others.
