This four- hour seminar will provide security personnel with the fundamentals of providing executive protection. The seminar is designed for licensed security officers who are currently providing close protection and need a basic course, security practitioners who want to learn how to provide executive protection, and for church security volunteers who may need to provide close protection for their pastors.


Course topics include:


  1. Defining executive protection
  2. Levels of protection
  3. Basic EP strategy
  4. Use of technology in Executive protection
  5. Attack recognition and response protocols
  6. Preparing an executive protection-specific resume


The course will include lecture and discussion- based activities, use of case studies, table- top exercises, and limited scope performance exercises.

Instructor

Michael Mann, CPP®, PSP® has 30+ years’ experience in physical security, law enforcement, executive protection, and corporate security. Michael’s experience in close protection began during his service with the United States Marine Corps Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST), a dedicated security and antiterrorism unit of the Marine Corps. Michael also served on the mayor’s security detail while employed as a police officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department, and he served as an executive protection manager for a large risk management firm. Michael has been both a regional security manager and global physical security director, and he is certified in dignitary and executive protection.


Michael has Master of Science (MS) Degree in Security Management; a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence, University of St. Andrews and he studied terrorism at Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel. Michael is also a 35- year student, practitioner and teacher of modern pistolcraft and self- defense, and he serves as an adjunct staff member for a large university assigned to teach courses in criminal justice, homeland security, and counterterrorism.
