With recent advances in technology, self-publishing has become reachable for more writers than ever before. New authors quickly realize they can’t go it alone -- they need editors, illustrators, publicists, readers and others to fully realize their goals.
This presentation is for writers, business professionals and others who think that publishing a book will enhance their lives either personally or professionally. It will answer the scariest of questions, such as, “Where can I turn for help?”, “How do I not get ripped-off” and, “Can I really make money at this?”
About Our Speaker
Steven R. Porter - Stillwater River Publications
Steven is the author of the critically-acclaimed crime thriller “Confessions of the Meek & the Valiant,” the award-winning historical novel “Manisses” based on the legends and rich history of Block Island, and a self-help guide on overcoming panic and anxiety, “Scared to Death... Do It Anyway.”
In 2011, he founded the non-profit Association of Rhode Island Authors (ARIA) to help promote, market and sell the state’s best books throughout the region and the country.
He and his wife Dawn are the founders of Stillwater River Publications and Stillwater Books in Pawtucket, RI where they have helped over 100 authors publish their work.

FAQs
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
If you pay 24-hours in advanced, no. We will keep a record of those who purchased a ticket at the door and confirm your payment then.
Can you tell me a little more about what to expect?
Sure! We meet for about two hours, but follow a typical flow: between 5:30 - 6:10 people arrive, grab some appteizers to snack on, and network with others; from here, our guest speaker will present and take questions until about 7pm. At this point of the night, our program is complete, but you are welcome to stay and chat longer, or spend time at the restaurant or bar as much of the crowd will do.
How does AMP-RI membership work?
Annual members pay a single, $60 fee for the year and attend all events free! That's a great value financially.
