Evensong

vensong is a contemplative vesper service combining the beauty of literature and music. This special presentation features Michael Koller on organ and Loren Dickinson offering spoken word readings, with several musical selections arranged by Melvin West.

The idea for Evensong was born from the friendship of Loren Dickinson and Melvin West, who lived as neighbors for over twelve years during their teaching careers at Walla Walla College (now University). Their many conversations inspired a collaborative vision: a program where organ compositions and literary readings would intertwine to create a reflective and uplifting experience.

The result is Evensong — a harmonious blend of word and music, designed to refresh the spirit and celebrate the creative partnership of two longtime colleagues.
