Evening at the Embassy of Iraq with Visiting Band
Overview
On this special evening, the Embassy of Iraq opens its doors to our members. Tonight, we are proud to welcome and introduce our community to Iraq’s ambassador and diplomats.
Even more rare – visiting from Iraq for tonight only – experience the music of Asalat Kirkuk Band! The band is visiting for a few special performances on behalf of the Iraqi government. The embassy enthusiastically asked us to introduce the band to our members via this special performance.
Join us as we step onto foreign soil to experience a country rich in culture and history over 1,000 years in the making.
Your very special evening features:
1. DIPLOMATIC GREETING:
Meet the diplomats from Iraq as they talk and answer questions about historic and modern Iraq, its history and the future of US -Iraqi relations.
2. IRAQI DINNER:
Enjoy a heavy buffet of native Iraqi food. The menu below is subject to change (if so, of similar or better quality). Tentatively, the menu will include:
Appetizers/Salads
Eggplant bell pepper salad
Sumac salad
Cauliflower and aniseed (fennel) salad
Main Dish
Tepsi Baytinijan (Eggplant Casserole)
Chicken Maqluba with almonds (upside-down rice casserole)
Lamb kebab
Grilled vegetables
Iraqi rice
Okra casserole
Dessert
Assorted Baklava, Fresh fruits, tea, coffee, juice, water
Assorted refreshments will be provided. In accordance with Iraqi law and embassy policy, alcoholic beverages will not be provided.
3. LIVE IRAQI BAND – Asalat Kirkuk Band :
The Asalat Kirkuk Band is distinguished by its authentic heritage spirit, derived from the lives and tastes of our ancestors. Its diversity reflects the beauty of Kirkuk Governorate, rich in its customs, traditions, and arts, known as “Little Iraq” for its unique cultural diversity. You’ll hear a style of music you’ve likely never heard before!
4. IRAQI FILM:
See the beautiful lands, culture ,and people of Iraq as we preview a special film prepared by the embassy.
5. IRAQI ART:
Tour the embassy’s rare collection of beautiful paintings, sculptures and other artistic pieces.
