Overview:

In any human service field, it is important to practice ethical behavior. Though prevention specialists are not working in a clinical setting, ethics are still a crucial part of effective and quality prevention services. Join us as we explore Ohio’s Code of Ethics for Certified Prevention and its applications to our day-to-day work.

This training is divided into two parts to meet the needs of Ohio Certified Prevention Specialists, and those seeking certification.

Continuing Education: This training has been approved by Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services for the following recognized clock hours of continuing education for prevention. (Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board issued provider #50-17863)

Part 1 – 3.0 clock hours (Prevention Education Classification: P7)
Part 2 – 3.0 clock hours (Prevention Education Classification: P7)

For licensed Social Workers, ADAMHS has approved this training for 3 hours of continuing education in Ethics. (Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board issued provider #RCS111304) However, please note that it is specific to the Ohio Code of Ethics for Prevention Professionals which is a non-therapeutic credential.

In order to ethically provide CEUs, we use a platform that generates attendance time reports. We must have a total time in attendance for each participant in order to issue CEUs and the CEUs issued are based on the total amount of time accumulated between the time an attendee joins and the time the attendee logs off. We are ethically bound to report the accumulated amount of time a participant attended, therefore we cannot issue CEUs to:

Individuals sharing a monitor, computer, and/or login

Individuals joining by audio phone only

Individuals missing more than 10 minutes of a training that is 60 minutes in length

CEUs will be adjusted to the nearest quarter hour to reflect the amount of time present for sessions over 60 minutes in length.

Presented by Allison Sharer, OCPC. Allison is an independent trainer and consultant, and President of Wingspan Training, LLC. Allison's experience includes work within youth-led prevention, community-based prevention, environmental prevention and drug-free workplace. She has also served as the past-president of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Association of Ohio and served on the former Ohio Credentialing Board as chair of the Prevention Committee.
