Glücklich, which means happy in German, is exactly what Rainer Trüby stands for: music that makes you happy. Anyone who has attended Rainer Trüby’s club night Root Down in Freiburg, which has been running for over 20 years, knows that he always comforts his audience and makes the dancers smile. For years, Rainer Trüby has focused on Downbeat, Nu Jazz, Drum n’ Bass, Broken Beats, and all kinds of Soul and Disco from bands, singers, and producers from around the world. Recently, he has incorporated this knowledge of dance music’s roots with House and soulful Techno. As a DJ, Rainer Trüby remains a regular at festivals such as the Worldwide Festival, founded and curated by Gilles Peterson, and at clubs such as Watergate or Panorama Bar who trust in his musical repertoire. Almost 20 years ago, back in October 2000, we were blessed with Rainer’s impeccable set during one of our Fatsouls’ events. Till today that memory has lingered on in our hearts and we are excited for an encore.
