Equine Behavior Lecture Part II

Non-Associative Learning Deep Dive

Join us for the second session in our four-part series on equine behavior! This session dives deeper into non-associative learning—that is, what shapes a horse’s emotional response to the world around them! We’ll begin with a short lecture on the foundational research and theory. Then, discussion topics will explore some of the landscape of emotional responses (from fear to excitement and everything in between) and offer practical strategies for when and how to manage them .

To bring these ideas to life, we’ll host a hands-on workshop with our generous equine partners, working through case scenarios together. This session is best suited for participants who have attended the introductory lecture or already have a strong foundation in animal behavior.

About the speaker:

Anna Boger DVM is the head trainer and equine veterinarian at Misty Step Stables. In her practice, she combines an expertise in equine learning theory, veterinary behavior, and lameness/sports medicine .

Frequently asked questions

Where do I park?

Plenty of parking available in front of the barn!

Is the driveway hard to find?

NOT ANYMORE! Thanks to our amazing farm sign designer, Grey Pony Designs, we have a fabulous white and blue barn sign at the top of the driveway easily visible from Beallsville Rd.

Should I bring a chair?

You are welcome to bring a chair! We also have a good number of chairs available for participant seating.

Should I bring water or snacks?

We will have water and a few snacks available, but at our last event several people decided to stay and keep the discussion going. We encourage ongoing learning, bring snacks and water so you stay fed and hydrated while you learn and build community! We have a fridge, microwave, and AC!
