Equality, diversity, and inclusion in the research library: looking at recruitment practices
This online talk from Christina Kamposiori is based on the results of a piece of research conducted recently by Research Libraries UK (RLUK), which aimed to showcase how RLUK institutions work towards developing more inclusive practices in workforce recruitment and retention. The results of this research enabled us to develop a better understanding of the steps that RLUK research libraries currently take to establish new processes or review existing practices with the aim of becoming more inclusive and diverse places.
Recognising the value and potential of a diverse workforce, many libraries are seeking to recruit professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, including those traditionally underrepresented in the library sector, such as individuals with neurodivergent profiles. As part of these efforts, institutions are re-evaluating how job descriptions are crafted, how interviews are conducted, and how retention strategies can be enhanced. This presentation will share key findings and examples of best practice that emerged from our research.
The webinar will be conducted over Teams.
