What should I bring with me?

We provide all supplies for the craft.  This includes ventilation, face masks, eye protection, and gloves.   If you would like to bring drinks or snacks, please do.

What should I wear?

Dress in clothing that can be ruined!  We do not have aprons.  We will be using two main spaces: the shop for sanding and the clean room for epoxy pouring.  The shop can be hot, but the clean room is air-conditioned.  Sawdust is messy and epoxy does not come out of clothing, shoes or jewelry.

Is this really two days?

Yes, this class is slated for two days because the epoxy needs to dry before the additional layer can be poured, sanded and sealed.  If we only pour one layer, the charcuterie board won't be thick enough and the wood will stick out.

Question 5

What should I expect during the class?

Accepted Answer

First you will choose your wood, decide on your layout and your epoxy color choice. Next it's time to sand!  When the wood is ready, you lay it out, mix your epoxy color and pour.  Once the second layer dries we will need to remove the mold, sand your project and then we spray to seal it.

What are the additional options for a fee?

Your project will be spray sealed, but some choose to add a topcoat.  This requires additional epoxy and time, so this is an upcharge.  Other options include adding a second color, adding handles, and adding personal elements (ask about size restraints).

Question 7

Is there anything I should be concerned about?

This is a real woodshop and we use electric sanders.  Particles fly around and could enter an eye, nose or mouth.  Epoxy has a very potent smell and may bother some crafters.  We will be using open flames to pop epoxy bubbles.  The warehouse can be very hot, depending on the Florida weather.
