Engineering for Every Learner: Strategies for Students with Support Needs
Overview
This webinar explores how hands-on engineering experiences can support and engage students with disabilities, including those with intensive support needs.
Co-facilitated by Bree Jimenez, Kaitlin Cunningham, and Shannon McManus, the session will highlight research, classroom experiences, and practical strategies for inclusive engineering instruction. Participants will examine how YES curriculum features and adaptations increase access and participation for all learners.
Educators will gain insight into how engineering can be a powerful tool for students with support needs and leave with concrete ideas for adapting instruction to better support all learners.
Bree Jimenez is a professor in special education and chair of the Department of Educational Psychology (EDP) at Baylor School of Education.
Kaitlin Cunningham is a Grades 3-5 math special education teacher at a DC public school.
