Event description
Strategies for instructors to create engaged and dynamic remote learning environments

About this Event

Are you new to remote teaching and wondering how you can keep students engaged and learning in a remote classroom? This can seem like more of a challenge in an online space than in a real face-to-face classroom. The good news is that with some creative thinking, solutions do exist.

This online workshop will demonstrate a range of strategies that instructors can use to create engaged and dynamic remote learning environments.

Workshop Facilitator: Dipa Shah, MIT Teaching + Learning Lab

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • facilitate small-group, or pairwise discussions in your online class
  • poll students to check for conceptual understanding
  • consider strategies for asking students for their questions

As described by Krishna Rajagopal (Dean for Digital Learning), participants should have considered their revised goals for student learning in their subjects. In addition, they should have a basic understanding of Zoom.

Open to all who teach at MIT. Participants will receive information about joining this online seminar (held via Zoom) after registering.
