Program Description

This culminating Enchanted Forest Adventure brings five months of discovery to a joyful close. Participants will reflect on lessons of creativity, stewardship, and friendship while learning how small acts can create big ripples for the planet. Inspired by Rapunzel’s renewal and Ariel’s care for the sea, we’ll explore how imagination and action work hand-in-hand to make the world a better place.

Program Leaders

Naturalist Tasha Messer (DeKalb County RPCA) and Amber Ritchie (Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta)

Weather Contingency

This program will be held rain or shine, unless conditions are dangerous.

Where to Meet

Mason Mill Recreation Center-Upper Level
*Where you will see the Mack Love Senior Center signage.

What to Bring

Wear comfortable footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather. Bring a refillable water bottle and a clean, smooth recycled glass jar (such as a Oui Yogurt container) for the decoupage and paint activity. The jar project will be a personal keepsake. For the Repurpose with Purpose leather friendship bracelets, participants will use their creativity to make two: one to gift to another participant in the room and one to donate to the Makers Market at next year’s Forest Fashion Show & Festival.

Recommended Ages

Designed for current Girl Scouts, those interested in becoming one, and girls of all ages who embody this spirit. All participants should attend with adult supervision.

What We’ll Do

We’ll begin with a storywalking session connecting Rapunzel’s creativity and Ariel’s curiosity to real-world environmental stewardship. Afterward, we will share a brief mindfulness resetting moment to center our intentions and ground ourselves in community. Participants will then craft Repurpose with Purpose friendship bracelets from reclaimed SWA leather, create recycled-jar art celebrating renewal, and close with a shared snack-circle affirming our collective pledge to protect the planet and one another.

Walking Distance

Minimal – activities will be primarily held indoors with short outdoor components.
