This beginner workshop will introduce you to the art of printmaking using warm wax and paper! Experienced artist and educator Dana Harris Seeger will guide you through her process of creating monotypes- one time impressions on paper using a hot plate and encaustic wax paint.
In an intimate setting, you will expand your encaustic skills by layering paint in an intuitive and spontaneous way onto sheets of paper. Those resulting "prints" can be framed as art, embedded in your encaustic paintings or cut up and used as collage fodder. The possibilities are endless, and so is the fun you will have in this 4 hour workshop at Windmill Farm in beautiful Poulsbo, Washington.
All materials are covered in the class fee, including the paper, medium, pigments used, brushes, hotplates and other related materials. Each student will go home with a dozen or more encaustic monotype prints.
Students are not required to have any printmaking or encaustic experience. This is a great introductory workshop in methods and safety of encaustic painting only using paper instead of a rigid substrate. Check out the video below to watch me create some encaustic monotypes!
