When an EMS practitioner responds to a call for service, they receive a set of initial information, evaluate the message and anticipate needs, assess the situation, implement a set of actions, assess and reassess the patient’s response to care, and ultimately reach an end point. Educators follow as similar pathway of self-reflection, learning, self-awareness, improvement, and a focus on our students. The reflective professional practice model allows the educator to assess their practice, evaluate methodologies, and improve their professional practice. In turn teaching is more effective and learning is more efficient. This presentation will review techniques for educator self-appraisal and tools to further their professional development.
