Empowered: Popular Feminism and Popular Misogyny

Sarah Banet-Weiser, professor of Media and Communications and head of the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science, will discuss her latest book, Empowered: Popular Feminism and Popular Misogyny. She will be in conversation with Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, assistant professor in Princeton University's Department of African American Studies and the author of From #BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation, and Naomi Klein, Gloria Steinem Endowed Chair in Media, Culture and Feminist Studies.

Book signing immediately following conversation.


This event is presented by the Department of Women's and Gender Studies in the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Communication and Information, and the Institute for Women's Leadership.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The event will take place in room 2400 of the Rutgers Academic Building, 15 Seminary Place, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Guest parking will be available in Lots 11, 26, 30, and the College Avenue Deck. Visitors must register for parking using this link and enter their vehicle information to finalize event parking arrangements. Rutgers faculty, staff, and students with Rutgers parking permissions must park in the lots designated by their parking permissions. Please note: guest vehicles that are not registered may receive a citation.
