Join Lake County Municipal League for a briefing and conversation regarding the accelerating cyberattack risks that current world trends pose to small and midsized units of US local government.
Overview
The briefing will begin with an overview presentation that will be followed by an audience Q&A session with three leading authorities on U.S. intelligence and national security issues who will review current global trends, discuss their potential impact upon local governments, and take questions from the audience.
Former Lake Barrington Mayor, Kevin Richardson will moderate the event with special guests: William Evanina, the former Head of U.S. Counterintelligence and Rob Hargis, a former senior Defense Intelligence Agency official who also served as the Senior Duty Officer in the White House Situation Room on September 11.
Objectives
- Provide local government leaders with expert insight into how geopolitical trends are impacting (or are expected to impact) both small-to-midsized units of local government and other core institutions and infrastructure vital to local social order, including hospitals, utilities, banks, energy distribution systems, and transportation systems.
- Learn how colleagues and other leaders involved in or with the local government ecosystem view current world events and how they assess the risks associated with them.
- Offer feedback on a proposed local government alliance that will provide specialized support to local governments in addressing readiness and planning on both a pre-and-post cyberattack basis.
