Eliza Howell Park - Identifying Trees in Winter

Eliza Howell Park - Identifying Trees in Winter

By Detroit Bird Alliance

Overview

Join us among the woods of Eliza Howell Park for a Winter Tree Walk!

A January afternoon walk in Eliza Howell Park with Detroit Bird Alliance leaders Kathy Garrett and Mara Crawford as they guide you through tree identification. We will work together to identify several tree species by their bark, estimate the age of some mature trees by measuring their trunks, examine dormant buds waiting for spring, and observe some seeds and leaves remaining on trees.

Clothing appropriate for walking among the snow and unpaved trails is recommended.

You'll find Kathy and Mara parked about halfway around the loop.
