Element 13: Program Leadership and Staffing

Effective mentoring begins with a solid foundation of leadership and staffing that reflects the values and diversity of the communities served.  This training will explore how to build governance structures, recruit and support qualified staff, and foster inclusive environments through policies that address discrimination and promote equity.  Learn how to create a formal staff development plan that includes onboarding, supervision, professional growth, and recognition to ensure your team is equipped and empowered to deliver impactful mentoring experiences.

Element 14: Community Engagement

Mentoring programs flourish when they are embedded in the social and historical fabric of their communities.  This session will guide you through strategies for forging meaningful partnerships with youth-serving organizations, service providers, and other mentoring programs.  Discover how to incorporate community history and lived experiences into your program’s values and decision-making processes, and how to build long-term public and private sector support for mentoring initiatives.

This training is eligible for 1 CEU through the Connecticut Certification Board upon completion.
