Electric Cooperative Organizing Toolkit Launch
Overview
Despite the Trump administration’s dogged attacks on renewable energy, it continues to gain ground and remains far more popular in the United States than the president himself.
Oftentimes, it can seem like addressing the climate crisis can only happen in one of two ways: individual action, or through large government programs. But this is not the case. At the local level, there are tools that groups of residents can use to make a big impact by pressuring or working with energy utilities.
These tools are particularly powerful if you are a member of a rural-electric cooperative. For those who are not familiar with the concept: rural electric cooperatives are utility companies that operate like consumer co-ops. Ratepayers are actually member-owners who have a vote in how the cooperative is governed, can push for programs at their co-ops, and can run for leadership seats. This is not as difficult as it may seem!
In order to catalyze these types of bottom-up efforts, the Rural Power Coalition is launching a new resource: The Electric Cooperative Organizing Toolkit.
So, on Monday, November 17 at 4PM Eastern/ 1PM Pacific, you are invited to our one-hour launch of our new organizing toolkit.
Upcoming Member-Owner Training
You will also get a sneak peek at a free, 4-part member-owner training launching in January 2026 that will turn this toolkit into real community-based organizing.
You do not have to wait for elected officials before taking local, collective action to make a big impact on climate adaptation and mitigation efforts!
