Join us for a day of volunteering at El Monte Elementary School Garden!
About the Project: The El Monte Garden is a beloved centerpiece of the school campus! You'll find it right at the entrance of the school, welcoming all visitors to the school. The garden hosts Growing Healthy Kids Garden Class, serving all grade levels over the course of the year. In it, students study nature, plants, and get to engage with learning in a hands-on way. The garden is a cared for Growing Healthy Kids Lead Garden Educator Marian Woodard, community members, and students.
Projects Include: At this work day, volunteers will:
- Repair garden beds by replacing rotting lumber with fresh new wood
- Transplant & seed fall vegetables
- Feed fruit trees
- Weed and clean-up the campus!
Access Notes: There will be access to shade, water, and a bathroom. Activities are available for all ages. The garden is over a curb and access for wheelchairs can be provided with notice. If you have need for curb access or other access needs, please send a note to Marian Woodard at marian@ghkids.org
You should Bring: Bring hats, water, garden gloves if you have them, sun protection for your comfort, and closed-toed shoes that can get dirty.
