Event description

Description

65% of students entering primary school today will be in jobs that don’t exist yet and 48% of the impact of technological shifts will be on women and minorities. Human capital is at the core of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)’ Business 4.0 model, and skills are the bedrock of business transformation in the fourth Industrial Revolution. With the right set of skills, people can harness the potential of new technologies to create innovations for every industry around the world.

TCS and STEMconnector recognize that in this new world of work, policy makers and companies across sectors have the responsibility to invest in developing talent with trans-disciplinary capabilities in computational thinking, digital fluency, innovation excellence, employability skills and technical skills as well as, increase access, equity and inclusion to opportunities.

Drawing from these global trends, this forum will explore how public, private and the non-profit sector can work together to facilitate successful transitions to the new economy. Speakers will present best practices and explore models for growth in the future.

Speakers include:

  • Balaji Ganapathy, Head of Workforce Effectiveness at TCS
  • Dr. Mark Rosenberg, President, Florida International University
  • Dr. Carol O'Donnell, Director, Science Education Center at the Smithsonian
  • Dr. Jeff Weld, Senior Advisor, Whit House Office of Science and Technology Policy

Directly following the event, there will be a networking reception on the FIU rooftop, which has panoramic views of Washington DC’s monuments and the Capitol.
