Education Insights: A focus on Metacognition
Overview
Education Insights is an exciting new series of events launching early 2026 in 5 regions, delivered by The Teaching Awards Trust supported by Nord Anglia Education, each with a focus on a different prevelant theme in the education sector.
Why should you attend Education Insights: A Focus on Metacognition:
Metacognition, the practice of reflecting on how we think, equips students with the tools to study effectively, retain knowledge, and approach problems with confidence and independence. Introduced early, these strategies don’t just support exam preparation; they empower learners to tackle challenges in school, work, and life.
Join us at the Bloomsbury Ballroom, where the blend of heritage and contemporary energy creates an inspiring space to explore how metacognitive strategies can shape the future of teaching and learning. This evening is a celebration of education; of the creativity, curiosity, and dedication that teachers bring to nurturing the next generation of thinkers.
Our panel brings perspectives from across education and research. Alisdair Wade, CEO of Thinking Matters, draws on experience supporting schools to embed these approaches at scale. Dr Madiha Khan, Director of Consultancy at Education Ventures Research, offers a forward-looking view, exploring how self-regulated learning intersects with AI and emerging technologies. And Professor Stephen Fleming, a leading cognitive neuroscientist at UCL, illuminates what psychology reveals about how metacognition works in practice.
This is a chance to connect with fellow educators, exchange ideas, celebrate the impact of great teaching, and leave with practical strategies you can use in your classroom straight away.
