Have you ever wondered what people ate before grocery stores? Or how they made baskets from pine needles? Join a ranger to learn how the plants around us have been used historically, both for food and for survival crafts. You'll learn the basics of plant identification, plant safety, and plant uses on a paddle around Lake Rutledge.
This is NOT a foraging program. There will be no plant or fungi harvesting. No plants or fungi will be consumed during this program. This program is for edible plant identification and historical education purposes only.
Bring water, susnscreen, bug spray, and a change of clothes/towel. If you can, bring a water proof case for your cell phone and binoculars.
$22 per person plus Eventbrite fees. Kayaks, PFDs and paddles provided. $17 plus Eventbrite fees if you bring your own kayak and equipment. $5 parking not included.
Participants must be 10 years and older. No pets. Directions to the location will be given once you register.
Cancellations can be made up to 1 day before the program date for a $22 refund. Eventbrite fees are not refundable. Cancellations made the same day are not refundable. No refunds on no-shows.
