Tompkins Corners will present the Eddie Allen Jazz Quartet on our outdoor stage on Saturday, August 16th, at 6:00 pm.

Trumpeter, composer, arranger, and author Eddie Allen is one of the most versatile musicians on the New York scene. He performs across genres—jazz (big band and small ensemble), R&B, Latin, symphonic, Broadway—and has worked with legends like Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Carter, and Joe Henderson.

He has recorded, performed, and composed for artists such as Mongo Santamaria, Lester Bowie, Vanessa Rubin, and Muhal Richard Abrams. On Broadway, he’s played in shows including Ain’t Misbehavin’, Black & Blue, and Jelly’s Last Jam.

George Kanzler of The Star Ledger (Newark, N.J.) said, “Allen’s trumpet and flugelhorn playing is marked by a playful inventiveness underscored by a slightly husky, almost vocal, tone and use of such swing trumpet strategies as smears, growls and glisses.”

Joining Eddie are some of today’s most in‑demand players. On acoustic bass is Kenny Davis, whose résumé includes stints with Herbie Hancock, Benny Golson, and The Tonight Show Band under Jay Leno. Pianist, composer, and band leader Oscar Perez expertly combines the traditions of his Cuban heritage with straight-ahead jazz. He has worked with Wycliffe Gordon, Christian McBride, and Charenee Wade, and has toured with Phoebe Snow. Rounding out the quartet will be a top‑flight drummer (to be announced), ensuring a dynamic, swinging foundation for Eddie’s versatile horn explorations.

Bring lawn chairs and a picnic! Indoors if it rains.
