Friday 11:30AM (doors open at 11:15AM)-food service begins at 11:30AM in the Community Room at Allegra Westbrooks Regional Library-Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte.

Join us for our free, 75 minute, EDD Talks Lunch & Learn program featuring at least one of our renowned physician-partners and BIPOC chefs.

Aside from a free, flavorful and health promoting 100% whole food, plant-based (WFPB) vegan lunch, our physician, pediatrician, David Bowman, MD will llead the discussion around the prevention and arrest of childhood obesity, related lifestyle-driven diseases and the benefit of a whole food, plant-based lifestyle.

ABOUT DAVID BOWMAN, MD

A dynamic lifestyle medicine physician and pediatrician, Dr. Bowman brings a rare blend of clinical excellence, global health experience, and transformative leadership. A proud Howard alumnus, he trained in pediatrics at Children’s National and worked internationally in Botswana, Uganda, Nigeria, and Haiti before returning to Howard as faculty in 2017.

Dr. Bowman now serves as Director of the Center for Spiritual Health and Wellness and Assistant Dean of Student Health and Wellness at HU College of Medicine.

After reversing his own chronic illness, he launched Lifestyle Med Revolution and now co-chairs the Health Equity Achieved by Lifestyle (HEAL) Initiative with ACLM.

As one of the first five Black ACLM Fellows, Dr. Bowman speaks nationally on the power of faith, food, and evidence-based lifestyle medicine to reclaim health and dismantle disparities.

Do I have to be vegan or WFPB to attend?

No you don't have to be WFPB or vegan to attend but this is the only food option available.

Is there a preferred demographic?

We are open to all who register, as the wellness resources and information is applicable to everyone. However, we are a Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC ) and veteran focused organization and all of our programs are tailored to speaking to the unique needs of those communities.

Where is the Program being held?

All 2025 programs will be held in Charlotte, NC at either Allegra Westbrooks Regional Library (Community Room) or South Boulevard Regional Library (Community Room)-See details on your eventbrite ticket.
