Ecologies in Motion
Overview
What Is Ecologies in Motion?
This is a guided movement practice and research space that draws on the premise of the body as both part of and in relation to the natural elements. We will explore how our bodies respond to sound, space, poetry/imagery, and the collective field we create.
You’ll be invited into simple movements through gentle somatic cues, guided imagery, relational exploration, and improvisation that intend to train sensitivity and awareness to the body. We will shift between individual exploration and moving together as a group, where individual expression and collecitve sensing will merge into one dynamic ecosystem.
Ecology - the relations of organismms to one another and their physical surroundings.
Motion - the action or process of moving or being moved.
Body - physical structures of organisms, including bones, flesh, and organs.
Why Ecologies in Motion?
This practice is a remembering. We are shaped by the same rhythms, forces, and patterns moving in the natural world. This is an invitation to feel the body as living ecology, an ever-changing, adapting landscape echoing the world around it. Moving together in a collective field, we will start to experience the interdependence everpresent.
We hope you will leave with a deep sense of belonging to something vast, a greater ability to listen to the body's intelligence, and the dynamism to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
Logistics
We will move in the space for one hour, consistently, with some time to settle at the beginning and end of the session. No dance or movement experience is necessary, just bring an open and curious bodymind. Also bring water and wear clothing comfortable to move and sweat in.
Please send payment to venmo @jaden-ramsey or pay at the door $15-$25
