Join E-asy Access and Nature For All programs for a bike and/or hike to and through the Puente Hills Landfill Park!

Join ActiveSGV's E-asy Access and Nature For All Program along with KDI and Clockshop to learn the results of the community renaming process for the future Puente Hills Landfill park project. Enjoy family friendly art-making activities, a community resource fair, music and refreshments!

This event is includes an E-asy Access bike ride starting from the Jeff Seymour Family Center, 10900 Mulhall St, El Monte and a hike starting at the Schabarum Skyline Trailhead, West End, 3301 Workman Mill Rd, South El Monte where the Nature For All Program will host a community hike to the top of Nike Hill.

Due to the length, this ride/hike is not recommended for anyone under the age of 12.

Pre-registration and attendance confirmation is required for all participants. If you are attending with other family members, each person must be registered separately in order to attend.

Timeline:

  • *8:00 AM - BIKE RIDE: Meet at Jeff Seymour Family Center
  • *9:30 AM - COMMUNITY HIKE: Meet at Schabarum Skyline Trailhead
  • 10:30 AM - Arrive at top of Nike Hill
  • 11:30 AM - Hike down from Nike Hill
  • 12:00 PM - Arrive back at Schabarum Skyline Trailhead
  • 1:00 PM - Arrive back at Jeff Seymour Family Center


Bike Ride Start/Finish: Jeff Seymour Family Center, 10900 Mulhall St, El Monte, CA 91731

Route: 14 miles, mostly flat.

Experience Level: Intermediate

Parking: Plenty of parking in the parking lot and on street.


Hike Start/Finish: Schabarum Skyline Trailhead - West End, 3301 Workman Mill Rd, South El Monte, CA 91733

Distance: 3.8mi out-and-back

Elevation: 974ft

Experience Level: Moderate

Parking: Their are two dirt lots that allow parking , Workman Mill Road Staging Area and Schabarum Skyline Trailhead, they are across the street from each other connected by a tunnel. *Street parking is not allowed.


What to Bring:

  • A helmet is required if under 18
  • A functional bicycle or wheeled device (highly recommended with gears)
  • Appropriate shoes
  • Water Bottle
  • Bikes with training wheels are not permitted, but children are welcome to attend if pulled in a trailer or on-bike child seat.
