East of Western Closing: L.A. Poets Read Charles Bukowski

Join us for the closing reception of East of Western curated by Joan Ganny. In tandem with the exhibition's closure, this intergenerational reading of Charles Bukowski’s poetry features several poets from across Los Angeles at The Wanda Coleman Theater. The lineup includes:

Ingrid M. Calderon, Rhiannon Cielos Chavez, Michael C. Ford, S.A. Griffin, Bill Mohr, Iván Salinas, Laura Sermeño, Paul Vangelisti, jimmy vega, Pam Ward, Charles Harper Webb, and more TBA.

The program highlights poets who worked closely with Bukowski in the 1970s and 1980s—editing, corresponding, and publishing anthologies—alongside a new generation shaped by one of L.A.’s most iconic and controversial literary figures.

About Beyond Baroque

Beyond Baroque is one of the United States' leading independent Literary | Arts Centers and public spaces dedicated to expanding the public's knowledge of poetry, literature and art through cultural events and community interaction. Founded in 1968 as an experimental literary magazine, Beyond Baroque is based out of the original City Hall building in Venice, California. The Center offers a diverse variety of literary and arts programming including readings and workshops. The building also houses a bookstore with a large collection of new poetry books for sale.

This is a free event, but please note seating is limited. We recommend registering in advance through Eventbrite. Masks are encouraged while inside our center. Please arrive early.
