Earn-A-Computer@BWorks | 12:30 p.m. Saturdays June 21 to August 2

Earn-A-Computer is a hands-on class that introduces young people ages 8 to 17 to the inner workings and possibilities of computers and the internet — all while getting set to take home a refurbished computer upon successful completion of the course. After completing a consecutive series of six (90-minute) classes digging into everything from online safety to programming and presentation-building, students receive a refurbished desktop computer of their very own.

Students who commit to this series will meet for six Saturday mornings, beginning each week at 12:30 p.m. (with each class ending at 2 p.m.). The first class meeting is Saturday, June 21, and graduation day (the final class, when students will present what they’ve learned and take their computers home!) will be Saturday, August 2. (NOTE: There will be a gap week, with no class on July 5, due to the 4th of July holiday weekend.) Students must consistently attend the classes to earn their computer.

This class takes place at St. Louis BWorks, located in Soulard at 2414 Menard Street, St. Louis, MO 63104. A parent/guardian must attend the first 15 minutes of the first of the six classes. We also limit each family to two registrants per session, and students must be between the ages of 8 to 17.

The operating system we install is Linux Mint OS (not Windows or Mac OS).
